We weren't even in the car for 40 seconds and my short friend starts in with his
usual condescending tone: "Are we taking the tunnel home? Take it—it's
the next left." My reply: "I got it, don't worry." His reply, slightly
more arrogant: "There it is, turn left. You missed it. Make the next left."
Me, less gracious: "Shut up, I got it." Him, a little angrier: "You
can still make this left and swing around." Me, slightly ticked: "We're
not taking the fucking tunnel. We're taking the bridge." Him, again, overbearing:
"The tunnel's the easiest way, just make a left." Me, less than happy:
"Thanks Magellan, we're taking the bridge. When you fucking drive, we'll
take your way." Him, like a little bitch: "I have to go to work tomorrow—it's
already late." Me, unfazed: "So do I, shut the fuck up already."
We made it home in 20 minutes flat.
